Curricula
NGS embeds environmental awareness in its curricula through
specializations in current degrees,
designated course content
and proposed degrees such as the *Masters of Science in
Environmental Quality
Policy and Management and the *Doctorate (DBA) in
Environmental Quality Policy and Management.
(pending)
Our
curricula in Environmental Policy and Quality Management are
designed to equip our students with
the
knowledge and compassion to care for -- and make
measurable improvements in -- both environmental and
human resources. The curricula focus upon
renewable energy, environmental and ecosystem health, and
environmental policy. To accomplish this,
NGS provides learning opportunities that enable students to
develop
new strategies to protect the environment against
global warming. As a result, they are required to
research and
analyze topics related to ecological, economic and
social sustainability. (pending)
Sample
courses are: Principles of Sustainability and Best
Practices of Quality Systems Management,
Quality Systems Applications in
Higher Administration of Sustainable Focus Organizations, and
Topics
in Environmental Quality Management Field
Experience. (pending)
ACADEMIC AFFAIRS SUPPORT
ACTIONS
The Academic Affairs Division
utilizes the internet to save paper and other materials in
the following ways.
-
Student
Orientations are presented virtually through Black
Board
-
Information
on schedules, course materials, student handbooks
and program format are conveyed virtually when
possible
-
Syllabi and course materials are available for
online access at all times through our electronic
academic portal “Blackboard”
and also via email. This availability reduces
the need to print actual
documents.
-
Textbooks are available through “e-Books” online, a
site that offers literature in an electronic
format. The material can be downloaded to any
device and is available with minimal energy
usage.
-
New versions of textbooks are immediately available
thereby eliminating the need for students to
discard outdated
versions.
-
The former requirement to purchase entire books
when only certain information is relevant to a
particular course, the e-Book” option allows for
the purchase of selected chapters.
Countless dollars are saved as well as
reductions in energy usage.
A predominant savings is derived from the
diminished destruction of trees used to make
the paper from which books are
made.
-
Fewer curriculum materials are printed and mailed
to students, thereby saving paper, cardboard boxes
and the energy
used in shipping.
-
Application
and registration processes are completed
virtually
-
Hard copy
products are required to be of recycled materials
from suppliers
-
Two
-sided printing options are used when printing is
necessary.
-
Eco-friendly printers that use low VOC ink are
always in use
-
Recycled paper is utilized.
-
Post-consumer paper is placed in clearly marked
bins to ensure adherence to school
policies.
